I hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend but I also hope everyone took time to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. With Memorial Day behind us, it is starting to feel like Summer!

Thankfully, the COVID-19 pandemic won’t last forever. I was pleased to hear from the governor last week that Illinois will FINALLY ramp up the opening of the economy, specifically our restaurants and bars. Our community has so many wonderful small businesses to support and I know my family and I are looking forward to being able to dine out safely in the coming weeks! Read more about the Phase 3 transition here.

For those of you who don’t follow the news out of the Illinois General Assembly, this past week Illinois legislators met for the first time in months. The House of Representatives met in the convention center in Springfield and the Senate met in the regular chambers. We are very disturbed to learn that the Members of the House and Senate voted themselves pay increases of $1,600 at the same time that hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans are out of work. Learn more from WBBM here.

In this time of need, we ask that our BTRO members that can safely visit restaurants and other locally owned businesses do so. Small business is the backbone of the Barrington Area community. If you have a favorite locally owned business or restaurant that you would like us to showcase on BTRO’s Facebook page please send us a note, and we’ll make sure to highlight it!

We also have some exciting BTRO events planned in the coming weeks so please stay tuned to your email and our BTRO Facebook page for updates!

Speaking of Facebook, it would be highly appreciated if you could help us grow BTRO’s Facebook presence by inviting your Facebook friends to “Like” our page so we can share our message with more people from our Barrington Township community. We’re currently at 260 page likes on our Facebook right now, so I’m setting a goal of us reaching 300 page likes by the end of the weekend. Can you help us reach our goal?

All you have to do is:

  • Go to Facebook.com/BTROrg/
  • First, make sure you currently ‘Like’ BTRO’s Facebook page.
  • Right next to the “Share” button, click on the button with 3 dots.
  • Go down to the option that says “Invite Friends.”
  • Here you can individually invite certain friends to “Like” BTRO’s page or you can click “Select All” to invite all of your Facebook friends to “Like” BTRO’s page (we encourage you to do this option!).

After you’ve invited your Facebook friends to “Like” BTRO’s page,  share our BTRO page on your timeline:

  • Next to the “Liked” button, click the “Share” button.
  • Here you can share BTRO’s Facebook page directly onto your timeline for your friends to see. Share why you’re supporting BTRO and why your Facebook friends should do the same.

In the coming months through the General Election in November, we’ll be sharing updates on our Facebook Page about BTRO events, local news, and information about the candidates and races that impact Barrington Township so it is important that you “Like” our Facebook page!

I look forward to engaging with you and our Barrington Township Republicans on Facebook, and to reaching our goal of 300 likes together!

Please call or send an email with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
